Software Engineer Websites (ENGLISH)
About us
Every month, we help more than 3 million home seekers find a new home. We do this with Pararius.nl and Huurwoningen.nl for tenants, and with the CRM packages Pararius Office and Leadflow for real estate agents — all part of Treehouse. In addition, we are active internationally with our platforms Rentaroof.co.uk and Toitpourtoi.fr.
We work from Rotterdam with about 90 enthusiastic colleagues. Although we’re growing as an organization, we operate in small, multidisciplinary teams. Each team has its own goals, which creates a strong focus on the products being built. You’ll have plenty of freedom to contribute to that.
We don’t believe in standing still; we want you to keep growing — just like the entire organization. Our motto: as long as it works, it works. Doesn’t work? Then we adjust it. That means you and your team can think outside the box and try anything. We think it’s important to make the most of our engineers’ knowledge and skills to find the best possible solutions together. You’re smart enough — so why not make the most of it?
About you
As a software engineer, you’ll be part of the Website Team. This multidisciplinary team (backend, frontend, dev-ops, and UX) is responsible for all the websites where supply and demand meet. Some key components you might work on include: our search engine, sending out matching listings daily, and, of course, enabling users to respond to property listings.
Together with your team, you’ll focus on designing and building solutions using the technologies best suited for the task. These solutions are released in small iterations. We’re fully committed to building new services in the cloud (Google) and aren’t afraid to let go of legacy technologies.
We mainly build our products in PHP, specifically Symfony, so we don’t have to reinvent the wheel. For our search engine, we rely on the flexibility of Elasticsearch. Everything runs on Docker Compose in our development environments and is orchestrated in production by Kubernetes. We use PHPUnit and Codeception for automated testing. And most importantly, we aim for Continuous Deployment — every release is just one merge button away from production.
We don’t expect you to master all our technologies and methodologies right away, and we offer plenty of opportunities to learn them.
What can you expect from us?
We expect a lot from you, but in return, you can expect:
A Dell (or Mac) to work on;
An informal atmosphere where we value a good vibe and individuality — in other words: you can be yourself;
Discounted gym membership and weekly bootcamp sessions;
Enthusiastic, young colleagues and an inspiring office in a unique location in Rotterdam (Blaak 555) with a fantastic view of the city;
Travel allowance;
A market-competitive salary;
Shared lunches, Friday drinks, and various fun team outings each year;
Excellent secondary benefits, including a pension scheme with 70% employer contribution.
Excited?
Does this sound like the perfect job for you? Then we’d love to receive your motivation and recent work experience. You’re welcome to send your CV, but we’d much rather hear about the websites and blogs you read, the podcasts you listen to, the conferences you’ve attended, and anything else that shows who you are and what you can do. In other words: we’d rather see your GitHub account than a static résumé.
Not sure if you’re good enough? We don’t believe in that. We don’t bite, and at worst, we’ll give you some tips to improve yourself. So — what’s there to lose?
